The “Church House & Stables” as it was known is the second oldest building in the parish, possibly medieval in origin, records show during the 18th century the property was used for Church festivities, accommodation and the consuming and probable brewing of “Church ales”. Abbots Leigh itself has an even more ancient history and receives a mention in the Doomesday Book. |
